FALL RIVER — The city for more than a year-and-a-half has operated without a dedicated entity to conduct economic development efforts but that changed when the Fall River Redevelopment Authority unanimously approved the appointment of attorney Maria Marasco.
Marasco, who also has an MBA, appeared before the RDA board May 22 in a public interview before the authority convened to executive session for a vote to hire the South Yarmouth resident and to approve a $130,000 annual salary with a three-year contract.
Marasco is working as the southeast regional director of the Office of Business Development out of Fall River and Barnstable, having been appointed by Gov. Charlie Baker in 2015. The agency is run under the Department of Housing and Community Development.
