Brazil Smart Grid Technical Visit
December 1, 2019 - December 7, 2019
A delegation of high-level energy decision-makers from Brazil will be visiting the United States to learn about state-of-the-art U.S. smart grid, micro grid, energy storage, and distribution automation technologies.
The delegation is interested in solutions that can support energy delivery and reliability and increasing revenues and sustainability in Brazil’s energy sector. The visit is hosted by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency.
Brazil’s industrial and commercial consumers are relying increasingly on smart metering. Residential usage is just beginning to take hold with deployments in major cities like Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, and São Paulo. Also, distributed energy resources have increased significantly around the country, and distribution companies are struggling to adapt their systems to properly manage these resources.
As electric utilities move from state-controlled to privately-held entities, technical and non-technical loss reduction has become a top priority for utilities, which see distribution automation and smart grids as a means of achieving greater sustainability for their operations. These goals present a number of business opportunities for U.S. companies.
