Downtown Rochester Hills

A global automotive supplier is expanding its footprint in Rochester Hills.

KOSTAL Kontakt Systeme Inc., a company that produces electrical connectors for the auto industry, announced recently that it will invest $57.8 million, and create 32 jobs, by constructing a new facility in the city.

The company, which has been leasing a 93,000-square-foot facility along West Hamlin Road since 2010, is a U.S. subsidiary of German-based KOSTAL Group, a global manufacturer of electrical components for automotive original equipment manufacturers and suppliers.

As a result of this new investment, the company has been awarded a $320,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. Rochester Hills, which offered the company a 50 percent property tax abatement in support of the project, was chosen over a competing site in Alabama.
